On Obama's team for Open Borders and Unlimited Immigration:
From the Desk of:
Steve Elliott, President, Grassfire.org Alliance
+ + Urgent Immigration Update ++
12/15/2008
With the appointment of Cecilia Munoz, an 18-year veteran of the
National Council of La Raza, and Arizona Governor Janet
Napolitano, who opposes the border fence, it's painfully
obvious where Obama wants to steer the immigration debate...
These two appointments to key positions in his administration are
serious cause for alarm for anyone who is concerned about
protecting our safety and sovereignty.
How can someone who worked for an organization whose
sole purpose was to systematically dismantle border
enforcement and undermine the immigration system,
suddenly represent the broader national interest?
The answer is, it can't be done!
With these appointments, Obama is tipping his hand and
sending a message to Americans who want real border security
that it simply isn't going to happen on his watch.
Instead, we anticipate he will move quickly to press for
comprehensive reform that throws open the doors to millions
of illegals!
And who will pay for the influx of illegals during these
challenging economic times?
You and me, of course.
To beat back this anticipated immigration storm,
I need your help right now--ahead of the curve, helping me
rally and mobilize critically needed extra support in the days
leading to Inauguration Day.
++ Action Item # 1--Alert your friends
Between now and January 20, I'm asking ALL members of our team who are
RESISTING Obama's immigration plan to forward this message to
30-40 friends urging them to click below and sign our petition.
Again, with these appointments, it is obvious what Obama has in
store for us regarding immigration. Our only hope to amass a
grassroots coalition of citizens who will RESIST yet another
attempt to tear down our borders!
Thank you for your quick response.
Steve
P.S: We've reached a critical phase, and we must get our message out
to as many citizens as possible.

Obama Discussed Senate Vacancy with Indicted Governor? Say it Ain't So!
Guest Column | By Jim Kouri, CPP | December 15, 2008 Judicial Watch is performing its own investigation into the Illinois political scandal involving the state's governor and his connection to President-Elect Barack Obama. While the mainstream news media are busy conducting their phony investigation - designed to subdue any negative effects on Obama - groups such as Judicial Watch are actually doing what the U.S. government should be doing: preventing or exposing dishonesty by our elected officials. Obama denies having contact with the indicted Illinois governor who tried to sell his old Senate seat yet the president elect's top advisor revealed last month that the men, longtime political pals, had in fact spoken about a replacement. When a massive federal indictment charging Rod Blagojevich with multiple corruption counts was made public yesterday, Camp Obama suddenly diagnosed the second-term Democrat governor with political plague. The nation's soon-to-be commander-in-chief claimed to barely know his close political ally. After all, who wants to be connected to a notoriously crooked politician who just got arrested and charged with selling the influence of his office, lucrative state jobs and contracts to the highest bidders? Prosecutors say Blagojevich also tried getting a cabinet-level position in Obama's new administration in exchange for appointing a union-preferred candidate to replace him in the Senate. Blagojevich and Obama go back years and Obama not only endorsed both of Blagojevich's gubernatorial campaigns, but he also served as a top advisor in the first one in 2002. A couple of years later Blagojevich enthusiastically endorsed Obama for the U.S. Senate and Obama returned the favor by ardently supporting Blagojevich's 2006 reelection bid, even though federal prosecutors were building a strong case against the Blagojevich administration's illegal hiring practices. Obama and Blagojevich also shared a major campaign donor, a shady Syrian businessman (Antoin Rezko) recently convicted of 16 counts of bribery, mail fraud and money laundering. Rezko raised about a quarter of a million dollars for Obama's various political campaigns and poured $1.6 million into Blagojevich's coffers. It's not surprising then, that the longtime political allies discussed a crucial legislative issue that affected them both. Their conversations about filling the newly vacant Senate seat was actually revealed by Obama's senior advisor, David Axelrod, in a television news show broadcast in late November. A huge indictment later, Axelrod issued a statement saying that he was mistaken when he told an interviewer last month that his boss spoke directly to Blagojevich about the Senate vacancy. "They did not then or at any time discuss the subject," Axelrod sternly states in his written statement. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton issued the following statement today in response to the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich: "There has been an air of lawlessness around Governor Blagojevich for some time and Judicial Watch applauds US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald for his actions. "Blagojevich's corruption is no surprise, but its breadth and depravity is shocking. The alleged efforts to sell the Senate seat of Barack Obama are outrageous, but also seem to implicate many other powerful politicians and political players. Especially disturbing are the questions the scandal raises about Barack Obama and his close associates. "This is a burgeoning crisis for Obama that should shake his presidency to its core. "The criminal complaint filed today indicates that Obama and his team knew about Blagojevich's efforts to sell Obama's Senate seat. ("Tony" Rezko, Obama friend, fundraiser and real estate partner, is once again implicated in the corrupt activities exposed today.) "Did Obama report Blagojevich to investigators about any efforts to sell his Senate seat?" Judicial Watch has been investigating Rod Blagojevich for over two years and has ongoing open records litigation concerning the sale of government jobs for which he was arrested today. Blagojevich has stonewalled and refused to turn over documents to Judicial Watch that could have alerted the American people to his corruption. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FSM Contributing Editor Jim Kouri, CPP is currently fifth vice-president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police and he's a staff writer for the New Media Alliance (thenma.org). Emanuel Pushed Blagojevich to Appoint Obama Loyalists Wednesday, December 17, 2008 12:48 PM By: David A. Patten Article Font Size Incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel pushed Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to appoint longtime Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to fill Barack Obama's Senate seat, and even gave Blagojevich's staff a deadline by which an appointment was expected, according to a report in today's Chicago Sun-Times. Citing sources "with the Obama camp," the Sun-Times report says Emanuel began to push for Jarrett to fill Obama's seat "just days" after the Nov. 4 election. That story also cites a source close to Emanuel admitting it is "possible" Emanuel discussed the appointment with Blagojevich chief of staff John Harris, and that a specific date for the appointment was given. The Sun-Times' revelations suggest that Emanuel was more deeply involved in discussions with Blagojevich and his staff than previously reported, and was more assertive in promoting a specific candidate. Those conversations could have contributed to Blagojevich's apparent belief that the Senate appointment held great political value. "I've got this thing and it's f**king golden," Blagojevich told one of his advisers, according to the federal-wiretap transcripts. "I'm not just giving it up for f**king nothing." On Monday, Obama said that an internal review showed that his aides "did nothing inappropriate" concerning the search for his Senate replacement, but added that at the request of U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald details of the review will not be released until next week. Blagojevich and Harris were arrested Dec. 9 after Fitzgerald released a 76-page criminal complaint alleging they conspired to sell Obama's vacant Senate seat, and pressured the Chicago Tribune to fire editorial writers who had been critical of Blagojevich. Shortly after the complaint was released, speculation began regarding the possible involvement of Emanuel, who filled the Fifth District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives that Blagojevich vacated in 2002 when he decided to run for governor. Although Obama has generally avoided commenting on the investigation, sources close to Emanuel appear to be preparing the media for further revelations. The Chicago Tribune has cited sources who say Emanuel called Harris' cell phone on Nov. 1, and presented a list of Senate replacements acceptable to Obama. Jarrett's name was reportedly on that list. Jarrett initially expressed an interest in serving in the Senate, but withdrew her name after accepting a position as a White House senior adviser. According to the Tribune, Emanuel subsequently spoke with Harris and added another name to the Obama-approved list: Lisa Madigan, the Democratic state attorney general who has taken the lead in trying to push Blagojevich from office since his arrest. Fitzgerald's criminal complaint states that many conversations recorded by the listening devices have not yet been made public. There have been many reports that conversations involving Emanuel were recorded. MyFoxChicago.com reporter Craig Wall, for example, has cited "a reliable source familiar with the investigation" that Emanuel and Blagojevich had direct discussions about the Senate seat, and that those conversations may have been caught on federal wiretaps. At one point, according to the wiretap transcripts, Blagojevich issues a profanity-laced tirade because he states the Obama administration is refusing to give him anything other than its "appreciation" in return for the Senate appointment. On Wednesday, Obama senior adviser David Axelrod offered a staunch defense of Emanuel on MSNBC. "I've known Rahm ... for a very long time. I've worked with him closely. He is someone who I think has enormous integrity and unparalleled skill. And I think we're lucky to have him. "I have no concerns about Rahm. He is an enormous asset to us and will be an enormous asset to the country, as he has been in the Congress," Axelrod said. © 2008 Newsmax. All rights reserved. |

Reverend Boudreaux was the part-time pastor of the local Cajun Baptist Church, and Pastor Thibodeaux was the minister of the Covenant Church across the road. They were both standing by the road, pounding a sign into the ground, that read: 'Da End is Near! Turn You Self Around Now! Before It's Too Late!' As a car sped past them, the driver leaned out his window and yelled, You Religious Nuts!' From the curve they heard screeching tires and a big splash... Boudreaux turns to Thibodeaux and asks, 'Do ya tink maybe da sign should jus' say..... "Bridge Out"? |

December 19, 2008 - Shariah law specialist David Yerushalmi with the Center for Security Policy and the Thomas More Law Center and have filed a lawsuit against
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and the Federal Reserve Board to stop any tax dollars from going to American International Group, Inc. (AIG).
The lawsuit claims that AIG is intentionally promoting Islamic Shariah law in its products and services - and these funds are frequently used to fund Islamic terrorist groups around the globe. AIG operates a three-person Shariah Advisory Board with members from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Pakistan. The Pakistani board members is Dr. Muhammed Imran Ashraf Usmani. He is the son and disciple of Sheik Mufti Taqi Usmani, an authority on Islamic finance. The Sheik authored a book, Islam and Modernism, in 1999 calling for Muslims to engage in violent jihad against other nations. Sheik Usami believes that Muslims should live peacefully in other countries until they gain enough power to engage in the battle against infidels. The Sheik has served as an advisor for the Dow Jones Islamic Index. The Thomas More Law Center lawsuit argues that the use of taxpayer money to acquire ownership of a business that promotes, endorses, supports or funds Shariah-based Islamic practices violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The potential bailout of AIG is a national security issue, according to Richard Thompson, chief counsel at the Thomas More Law Center. Republican Representatives Sue Myrick (NC) and Frank Wolf (VA) have sent a letter to AIG expressing concern that the company is helping finance Islamic terrorism around the world. Myrick and Wolf write: "Sharia law is a politicized and radical doctrine created in the 1920s, by the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) founder Hassan Al-Banna, to compete against Western economics and values. Due to the radical ideas put forth by the Brotherhood, the Egyptian government banned the group, but it flourished elsewhere. Today, Shariah law uses the same legal code championed by the Taliban and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda. It promotes Stone Age family laws that amount to making women property, and enshrines horrific human rights abuses." These two legislators ask that the AIG verify what hands their money passes through "because we would hate to see the FBI visit you one day, look into your books, and tell you that money from AIG found its way into terrorist hands." Complete text of the lawsuit is available here: Department of the Treasury Complaint. |

U.S. Military Preparing for Domestic Disturbances
Tuesday, December 23, 2008 1:14 PM By: Jim Meyers Article Font Size A new report from the U.S. Army War College discusses the use of American troops to quell civil unrest brought about by a worsening economic crisis. The report from the War College's Strategic Studies Institute warns that the U.S. military must prepare for a "violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States" that could be provoked by "unforeseen economic collapse" or "loss of functioning political and legal order." Entitled "Known Unknowns: Unconventional 'Strategic Shocks' in Defense Strategy Development," the report was produced by Nathan Freier, a recently retired Army lieutenant colonel who is a professor at the college - the Army's main training institute for prospective senior officers. He writes: "To the extent events like this involve organized violence against local, state, and national authorities and exceed the capacity of the former two to restore public order and protect vulnerable populations, DoD [Department of Defense] would be required to fill the gap." Freier continues: "Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order … An American government and defense establishment lulled into complacency by a long-secure domestic order would be forced to rapidly divest some or most external security commitments in order to address rapidly expanding human insecurity at home." International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn warned last week of riots and unrest in global markets if the ongoing financial crisis is not addressed and lower-income households are beset with credit constraints and rising unemployment, the Phoenix Business Journal reported. Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma and Rep. Brad Sherman of California disclosed that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson discussed a worst-case scenario as he pushed the Wall Street bailout in September, and said that scenario might even require a declaration of martial law. The Army College report states: "DoD might be forced by circumstances to put its broad resources at the disposal of civil authorities to contain and reverse violent threats to domestic tranquility. Under the most extreme circumstances, this might include use of military force against hostile groups inside the United States. "Further, DoD would be, by necessity, an essential enabling hub for the continuity of political authority in a multi-state or nationwide civil conflict or disturbance." He concludes this section of the report by observing: "DoD is already challenged by stabilization abroad. Imagine the challenges associated with doing so on a massive scale at home." As Newsmax reported earlier, the Defense Department has made plans to deploy 20,000 troops nationwide by 2011 to help state and local officials respond to emergencies. The 130-year-old Posse Comitatus Act restricts the military's role in domestic law enforcement. But a 1994 Defense Department Directive allows military commanders to take emergency actions in domestic situations to save lives, prevent suffering or mitigate great property damage, according to the Business Journal. And Gen. Tommy Franks, who led the U.S. military operations to liberate Iraq, said in a 2003 interview that if the U.S. is attacked with a weapon of mass destruction, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government. © 2008 Newsmax. On Berg's Obama Crimes.com website, he said Congress is scheduled to hear the Electoral College results on Jan. 8. Then on Jan. 9 there's the
conference scheduled on Berg's case itself, with the injunction issue to be addressed a week later.
WND has reported Berg's case, one of the first legal challenges to Obama's eligibility to reach the Supreme Court, alleges he cannot constitutionally be inaugurated. "I know that Mr. Obama is not a constitutionally qualified natural born citizen and is ineligible to assume the office of president of the United States," Berg said in a statement on his ObamaCrimes.com website. "Obama knows he is not 'natural born' as he knows where he was born and he knows he was adopted in Indonesia; Obama is an attorney, Harvard Law grad who taught Constitutional law; Obama knows his candidacy is the largest 'hoax' attempted on the citizens of the United States in over 200 years; Obama places our Constitution in a 'crisis' situation; and Obama is in a situation where he can be blackmailed by leaders around the world who know Obama is not qualified," Berg's statement continued. "The Supreme Court has listed the case of Berg vs. Obama for 'conference' on January 9," the website said. "I am appalled that the main stream media continues to ignore this issue as we are headed to a 'Constitution Crisis,'" Berg wrote. "There is nothing more important than our U.S. Constitution and it must be enforced. I am concerned that our courts have not yet decided to look into the merits of our allegations." WND previously reported on a case brought by Cort Wrotnowski. It fell by the wayside when the justices heard about it in conference but refused to give it a further hearing. That was the same fate handed to a case brought by Leo Donofrio. Both challenged Obama on essentially the same issue: allegations that dual citizenship based on a father who was a British subject and a mother who was an American minor disqualified him for office. Where's the proof Barack Obama was born in the U.S. or that he fulfills the "natural-born American" clause in the Constitution? If you still want to see it, join more than 190,000 others and sign up now! The high court previously turned down a request from Berg to stop the Electoral College from selecting the 44th president until Obama documents his eligibility for the office. As WND has reported, more than a dozen lawsuits have been filed over Obama's eligibility to assume the office of the president, many have been dismissed, while others remain pending. The cases, in various ways, have alleged Obama does not meet the "natural born citizen" clause of the U.S. Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, which reads, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." Some of the legal challenges have alleged Obama was not born in Hawaii, as he insists, but in Kenya. Obama's American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time. Other challenges have focused on Obama's citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. Such cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born. Several details of Obama's past have added twists to the question of his eligibility and citizenship, including his family's move to Indonesia when he was a child, his travel to Pakistan in the '80s when such travel was forbidden to American citizens and conflicting reports from Obama's family about his place of birth. A partial listing and status update for several of the cases surrounding Obama's eligibility to serve as president is below: Philip J. Berg, a Pennsylvania Democrat, demanded that the courts verify Obama's original birth certificate and other documents proving his American citizenship. Supreme Court conferences on the case and its motions are scheduled Jan. 9 and 16. Leo Donofrio of New Jersey filed a lawsuit claiming Obama's dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. His case was considered in conference by the U.S. Supreme Court but denied a full hearing. Cort Wrotnowski filed suit against Connecticut's secretary of state, making a similar argument to Donofrio. His case was considered in conference by the U.S. Supreme Court, but was denied a full hearing. Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes headlines a list of people filing a suit in California, in a case handled by the United States Justice Foundation, that asks the secretary of state to refuse to allow the state's 55 Electoral College votes to be cast in the 2008 presidential election until Obama verifies his eligibility to hold the office. The case is pending, and lawyers are seeking the public's support. Chicago attorney Andy Martin sought legal action requiring Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle to release Obama's vital statistics record. The case was dismissed by Hawaii Circuit Court Judge Bert Ayabe. Lt. Col. Donald Sullivan sought a temporary restraining order to stop the Electoral College vote in North Carolina until Barack Obama's eligibility could be confirmed, alleging doubt about Obama's citizenship. His case was denied. In Ohio, David M. Neal sued to force the secretary of state to request documents from the Federal Elections Commission, the Democratic National Committee, the Ohio Democratic Party and Obama to show the presidential candidate was born in Hawaii. The case was denied. In Washington state, Steven Marquis sued the secretary of state seeking a determination on Obama's citizenship. The case was denied. In Georgia, Rev. Tom Terry asked the state Supreme Court to authenticate Obama's birth certificate. His request for an injuction against Georgia's secretary of state was denied by Georgia Superior Court Judge Jerry W. Baxter. California attorney Orly Taitz also has brought a complaint alleging Obama is not a "natural born" citizen and has written an open letter to the Supreme Court asking for the issue to be resolved. Last month, WND reported the worries over a "constitutional crisis" that could be looming over the issue of Obama's citizenship. "Should Senator Obama be discovered, after he takes office, to be ineligible for the Office of President of the United States of America and, thereby, his election declared void," argues the Alan Keyes case pending in California, "Americans will suffer irreparable harm in that (a) usurper will be sitting as the President of the United States, and none of the treaties, laws, or executive orders signed by him will be valid or legal." With such high stakes potentially at risk, WND earlier launched a letter campaign to contact Electoral College members and urge them to review the controversy. That followed a campaign that sent more than 60,000 letters by overnight delivery to the U.S. Supreme Court when one case contesting Obama's eligibility for the Oval Office was pending. A separate petition, already signed by more than 190,000 also is ongoing asking authorities in the election to seek proof Obama was born in the U.S. or that he fulfills the "natural-born American" clause in the Constitution. WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi had gone to both Kenya and Hawaii prior to the election to investigate issues surrounding Obama's birth. But his research and discoveries only raised more questions. The biggest question was why, if a Hawaii birth certificate exists as his campaign has stated, Obama hasn't simply ordered it made available to settle the rumors. The image his campaign posted online has been rejected by critics since it is a "certification of live birth," not a birth certificate, and under Hawaii law at the time such certifications were given to parents of children born outside the state. The governor's office in Hawaii said there is a valid certificate but rejected requests for access and left ambiguous its origin: Does the certificate on file with the Department of Health indicate a Hawaii birth or was it generated after the Obama family registered a Kenyan birth in Hawaii? Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetoro, has named two different Hawaii hospitals where Obama could have been born. There have been other allegations that Obama actually was born in Kenya during a time when his father was a British subject. At one point a Kenyan ambassador said Obama's birthplace in Kenya already was being recognized. |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OBAMA WATCH CENTRAL Eligibility case finds 'standing'? New suit claims unique state law enables citizens to demand proof -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: December 30, 2008 9:54 pm Eastern By Drew Zahn © 2008 WorldNetDaily Attorney Stephen Pidgeon A new case challenging Barack Obama's natural-born citizenship and, therefore, constitutional eligibility to serve as president has the potential to clear a hurdle that caused several other similar cases' dismissal: the issue of "standing." In the case brought by Pennsylvania Democrat Philip Berg, for example, a federal judge ruled against the lawsuit in deciding Berg lacked the "standing" to sue, arguing that the election of Obama wouldn't cause the plaintiff specific, personal injury. In Washington state's Broe v. Reed case, however, plaintiff's attorney Stephen Pidgeon says a unique state statute grants everyday citizens the required standing. "These lawsuits have pointed their fingers at the various secretaries of state and said, 'You handle the elections, it's your job [to verify Obama's eligibility],'" Stephen Pidgeon told WND, "and the secretaries of state have said, 'No, it's not our job. You the voter have to prove he was ineligible.' But when the voters try to do it, the courts tell them they have no standing. So it presents a catch-22. "Here, we have standing by means of statute," Pidgeon continued. "This particular statute provides for any registered voter to challenge the election of a candidate if the candidate at the time of the election was ineligible to hold office." Where's the proof Barack Obama was born in the U.S. or that he fulfills the "natural-born American" clause in the Constitution? If you still want to see it, join more than 200,000 others and sign up now! Further, Pidgeon explained, "In Washington we also have a constitutional clause in Article 1 that says the U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of land, so it's very much a state issue that the secretary of state has a duty to enforce the U.S. Constitution. "He doesn't think he does; we think he does. That's really the issue before the court," Pidgeon said. Washington's secretary of state, Mr. Sam Reed, has opposed the lawsuit, brought by a group of 12 registered Washington voters with Pidgeon's representation, on several grounds, including the argument that the issue is moot now that Obama has been voted upon by the people. Pidgeon argues, however, that even if Obama remains in office two years from now, the issue will not be moot. "The Constitution's criteria for president are never moot," Pidgeon explained. "Article 2, Section 1 says 'eligible to the Office of President'; it doesn't say 'eligible for candidacy to the Office of President." Therefore, Pidgeon argues, the Constitution's natural-born citizen clause specifically and expressly addresses the man sitting in the Oval Office, not just the main elected and waiting to get in. "If, at any time during his tenure, a birth certificate actually surfaces showing [Obama] born in Kenya," Pidgeon said, "he is disqualified from the presidency at any time. And the constitutional crisis that is rising out of this - the longer he's in that office, the greater the problem becomes, because everything he does will be illegal." The Washington Supreme Court is set to hear Broe v. Reed on Jan. 8, but the entire case may be delayed intentionally, as the plaintiffs wait to see if the court will rule first on a requested subpoena of Obama's birth certificate from Hawaii. Unlike other states where lawsuits challenging Obama's natural-born citizen status were required to move through lower courts, Washington law grants the case "original jurisdiction" at the state Supreme Court, which means the plaintiff can present new evidence, including - if the court will indeed subpoena it - Obama's birth records. "We have opportunity to present facts before the Supreme Court, where you wouldn't have that normally," Pidgeon told WND. "With original jurisdiction, we have the opportunity to present factual argument, and so what we have said to the court is, 'At no time did Senator Obama produce a single piece of evidence upon which the secretary of state could rely to establish that he was a natural born citizen, or that he was even an American citizen, or that he was running under his legal name.' Those are the three facets of our lawsuit." Pidgeon also told WND that the case's primary hurdle now is the natural predisposition judges have toward complying with the democratic will of the people. They rarely "upset the apple cart," Pidgeon said, by overturning the results of an election. Still, Pidgeon believes pursuing Broe v. Reed is necessary. "I expect the truth of Senator Obama's birth is going to come out," Pidgeon told WND. "It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but the truth of his birth is going to come out, and when that true fact comes out that he was born in Kenya, we will have an unprecedented constitutional crisis in this nation. "The question is," Pidgeon figures, "will the Washington Supreme Court stand for the rule of law or are they going to stand for an overthrow of the constitutional republic by the will of the electorate?" Last month, WND reported on the potential complications an ineligible president could create. "Should Senator Obama be discovered, after he takes office, to be ineligible for the Office of President of the United States of America and, thereby, his election declared void," argues a similar case brought by Alan Keyes and pending in California, "Americans will suffer irreparable harm in that (a) usurper will be sitting as the President of the United States, and none of the treaties, laws, or executive orders signed by him will be valid or legal." With such high stakes potentially at risk, WND earlier launched a letter campaign to contact Electoral College members and urge them to review the controversy. That followed a campaign that sent more than 60,000 letters by overnight delivery to the U.S. Supreme Court when one case contesting Obama's eligibility for the Oval Office was pending. New Jason Satellite Indicates 23-Year Global Cooling
By Dennis T. Avery, 5/7/2008 8:39:19 AM Now it's not just the sunspots that predict a 23-year global cooling. The new Jason oceanographic satellite shows that 2007 was a "cool" La Nina year-but Jason also says something more important is at work: The much larger and more persistent Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) has turned into its cool phase, telling us to expect moderately lower global temperatures until 2030 or so. For the past century at least, global temperatures have tended to mirror the 20-to 30-year warmings and coolings of the north-central Pacific Ocean. We don't know just why, but the pattern of the last century is clear: the earth warmed from about 1915 to1940, while the PDO was also warming (1925 to 46). The earth cooled from 1940 to 1975, while the PDO was cooling (1946 to 1977). The strong global warming from 1976 to 1998 was accompanied by a strong and almost-constant warming of the north-central Pacific. Ancient tree rings in Baja California and Mexico show there have been 11 such PDO shifts since 1650, averaging 23 years on length. Researchers discovered the PDO only recently-in 1996-while searching for the reason salmon numbers had declined sharply in the Columbia River after 1977. The salmon catch record for the past 100 years gave the answer-shifting Pacific Ocean currents. The PDO favors the salmon from the Columbia for about 25 years at a time, and then the salmon from the Gulf of Alaska, but the two fisheries never thrive at the same time. Something in the PDO favors the early development of the salmon smolts from one region or the other. Other fish, such as halibut, sardines, and anchovies follow similar shifts in line with the PDO. The PDO seems to be driven by the huge Aleutian Low in the Arctic-but we don't know what controls the Aleutian Low. Nonetheless, 22.5-year "double sunspot cycles" have been identified in South African rainfall, Indian monsoons, Australian droughts, and rains in the United States' far southwest as well. These cycles argue that the sun, not CO2, controls the earth's temperatures. Dr. Henrik Svensmark's recent experiments at the Danish Space Research Institute seem to show that the earth's temperatures are importantly affected by the low, wet clouds that deflect more or less solar heat back into space. The number of such clouds is affected, in turn, by more or fewer cosmic rays hitting the earth. The number of earthbound cosmic rays depends on the extent of the giant magnetic wind thrown out by the sun. All of this defies the "consensus" that human-emitted carbon dioxide has been responsible for our global warming. But the evidence for man-made warming has never been as strong as its Green advocates maintained. The earth's warming from 1915 to 1940 was just about as strong as the "scary" 1975 to 1998 warming in both scope and duration-and occurred too early to be blamed on human-emitted CO2. The cooling from 1940 to 1975 defied the Greenhouse Theory, occurring during the first big surge of man-made greenhouse emissions. Most recently, the climate has stubbornly refused to warm since 1998, even though human CO2 emissions have continued to rise strongly. The Jason satellite is an updated and more-accurate version of the Poseidon satellite that has been monitoring the oceans since 1992, picking up ocean wind speeds, wave heights, and sea level changes. Jason is run by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a French team. How many years of declining world temperature would it take now-in the wake of the ten-year non-warming since 1998-to break up Al Gore's "climate change consensus"? DENNIS T. Obama's Revolutionary "Vision"AIM Report | By Cliff Kincaid | January 5, 2009Part of the perception problem, certainly in the economic realm, is the common but fallacious assumption that Big Business and Wall Street are Republican entities. On the Fox News program "Hannity & Colmes" in December, analyst Dick Morris made the absolutely critical point that President Bush has taken the country so far to the left, in terms of his socialist-style Wall Street bailout program and his integration of the U.S. economy into a new emerging international financial order, that anything Barack Obama does in this area seems almost mainstream. This is because what we were expecting from Obama we are now getting from Bush. So Obama doesn't look so radical anymore. This point must be understood in order to have an appreciation of the "moderation" of the new Obama Administration. Interestingly, some of Obama's strongest "progressive" support-ers are being brutally honest about what is happening. On the Rag Blog website, former Weather Underground terrorist Mark Rudd defended the "conservative appointments" of the President-elect and said that they are part of a deliberate strategy to "feint to the right" and "move left." He explained, "Any other strategy invites sure defeat." Rather than immediately propose cutting the military budget, for example, Rudd suggests that Obama will pursue security "through diplomacy and application of nascent international law" and lay the groundwork for eventual defense cuts. Rudd also declares that left-wingers questioning Obama's cabinet picks should "Look to the second level appointments. There's a whole govt. in waiting that Podesta has at the Center for American Progress. They're mostly progressives, I'm told (except in military and foreign policy). Cheney was extremely effective at controlling policy by putting his people in at second-level positions." Podesta is John Podesta, a co-chair of the Obama-Biden Transition Team, who runs the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress. In terms of the Bush legacy, a story by Tyler Bridges of McClatchy News Service captured the terrible reality of what has been happening: "With the Bush administration's Treasury Department resorting to government bailout after government bailout to keep the U.S. economy afloat, leftist governments and their political allies in Latin America are having a field day, gloating one day and taunting Bush the next for adopting the types of interventionist government policies that he's long condemned." The story quoted John Ross, adviser to the socialist Hugo Chavez government in Venezuela, as saying about the Bush Administration, "They have abandoned every policy that they've advocated that other governments should follow over the past 20 years. And they've adopted the measures that they've condemned other governments for taking." The Marxist Influence Based on Obama's associations and influences, which we can document over most of his life and career, one must realistically conclude that he is a revolutionary Marxist. AIM focused on Obama's childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, the communist who was a formative influence over Obama for about eight years of his life. During the presidential campaign, however, the media as well as the John McCain-for-president campaign refused to highlight this. As Andrew C. McCarthy noted in October on National Review Online, "The mainstream press steadfastly refuses to delve into Barack Obama's radicalism, his Leftist revolutionary collaboration with self-identified communists from Frank Marshall Davis to Bill Ayers… Petrified of being smeared as a racist, McCain has never mentioned Davis, whom Obama identifies only as 'Frank' in his memoir. And, of course, utterance of Jeremiah Wright's name is verboten in McCain circles, notwithstanding that his Trinity Church, where Obama was a 20-year member, is a font of Marxist Black Liberation Theology and thus critical to our understanding of Obama's invocations of 'change' and 'spreading the wealth.'" The "spreading the wealth" comment was one of those rare moments during the campaign when Obama's revolutionary Marxist views were displayed for all to see. Red Influence On Obama Paul Kengor, author of The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism, and professor of political science at Grove City College, wrote a column during the campaign noting that Obama's "spread the wealth" comment had to be understood in the context of examining the writings of Frank Marshall Davis, "the communist journalist-agitator who mentored Obama in Hawaii." Kengor explained, "While much attention has been paid to Obama's relationship with communist-terrorist Bill Ayers-and rightly so-much less attention has been devoted to Davis. That's a mistake, since Obama was influenced more by Davis than Ayers." Kengor cited a Davis column, a January 26, 1950 piece, "Free Enterprise or Socialism?," in which "Davis hoped that America and its economy were at a turning point, as if a kind of perfect storm was brewing that could at last allow him and his comrades to realize their dreams of a socialist America. They would need to trash the current free-enterprise system and argue for a change to something else. Of course, they could not fully disclose themselves, their beliefs, and their intentions, although any thinking observer could easily read between the lines. The key was to gain the support of the people who didn't know any difference." This almost seems like a blueprint for Obama's campaign and the course he is now on. Obama A Centrist? What we are witnessing is a process that is fooling a number of people and which is clearly designed to pull the rug out from under the prospect of political opposition to the Obama agenda. It seems like some conservatives are eager to raise the white flag of surrender and even support the Obama administration. William Kristol of The Weekly Standard declared, "Fine with me," when discussing the nomination of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. He thought she would turn out to be fine on Iraq and Iran, which seemed to be all that mattered to him. David Horowitz, the editor of Frontpagemag.com and a former Marxist-turned-conservative, said, "Now, as president-elect, he has just formed the most conservative Democratic foreign policy team since John F. Kennedy, one well to the right of Bill Clinton." One of Obama's more troubling associates is Anthony Lake, a Democratic Party foreign policy specialist who made headlines by doubting whether Alger Hiss, the United Nations founder and a U.S. State Department official, was really guilty of espionage on behalf of the Soviet Union. Lake is not a figure from Obama's distant past; rather, he has been one of Obama's closest foreign policy advisers for the last two years. In the 1980s, he had controversial ties to the pro-Marxist think tank known as the Institute for Policy Studies, which was dedicated to the establishment of revolutionary Marxist and anti-American regimes in Central and Latin America and elsewhere. He was a national security adviser to Bill Clinton but lost out on a job as CIA director when he voiced those doubts that Hiss had been a Soviet spy. Melanie Phillips of the UK Spectator believes that commentators have been tricked by some of Obama's so-called "moderate" or "centrist" appointments into believing that Obama has changed his far-left political views. She points to the New Zeal blog of New Zealand anti-communist researcher Trevor Loudon, who unearthed the comments by former Weather Underground terrorist Mark Rudd quoted earlier-to the effect that Obama is proceeding on an incremental basis to accomplish his radical objectives. Loudon, the first researcher to reveal that Obama's mentor "Frank" was the communist Frank Marshall Davis, has concluded that Obama is now pursuing "covert socialist tactics" that are even confusing conservatives about his real objectives. The Communist Party People's Weekly World told its readers that in order to "consolidate his victory and move ahead, his administration must build a strong record of accomplishments, working with a Congress in which Republicans, though weakened, continue to exercise considerable leverage, and responding to concerns of the 46 percent who did not vote for him. This requires considerable tactical skill and thoughtfulness. It's entirely logical and sensible that Obama would pick figures from the broad political center for Cabinet seats requiring Senate confirmation and other prominent positions." Veteran left-wing operative Robert Borosage of the Campaign for America's Future says, "There's a hope that he is using very experienced people with centrist credentials to drive a very bold, progressive program." But he must know it is not only a hope but a strategy. Semantics As A Weapon Part of the perception problem, certainly in the economic realm, is the common but fallacious assumption that Big Business and Wall Street are Republican entities. Hence, Timothy Geithner of the Federal Reserve, who is a member of the Wall Street crowd and close to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, a former Goldman Sachs CEO, becomes by definition somebody whom conservatives can automatically respect. Geithner is Obama's pick to be Treasury Secretary. The respected and usually reliable conservative writer Mona Charen wrote on National Review Online that "As president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank he [Geithner] has been knee-deep in bailouts over the past three months. But that datum doesn't distinguish him from the Bush administration or anyone else in the mainstream of America's economic elite." She concludes that Geithner and others constitute a "centrist" economic team. Taking a similar tack, former Bush deputy chief of staff Karl Rove, writing in the November 28 Wall Street Journal, described Geithner as "respected" and "mainstream." But these selections have to be understood in the context of current events. President Bush is providing Obama with an opportunity to continue and expand upon a massive effort to socialize the U.S. economy. This is what Obama wanted to do all along. As columnist and commentator Diana West wrote on http://www.dianawest.net: "I think this strange rapture on the Right over what is being touted as a 'centrist' Obama cabinet is evidence of the deep confusion over the political spectrum itself that has resulted from eight Bush White House years of liberalism: ever-expanding government, still-open borders, nation-building galore, PC policies against 'extremism,' and of course this latest, extremely dislocating and most shameful rush to socialize the US economy." Think about it from Obama's perspective. He tried desperately to conceal his Marxist background, especially his connection to Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis, and his socialist leanings. But the façade started to unravel near the end of the campaign when Joe the Plumber got him to admit to a philosophy of spreading the wealth around. The McCain campaign did try to seize upon this. But the financial crisis, which emerged just six weeks before the election, seemed to convince many people that Obama's Marxism was less of a concern than the collapse of America's capitalist system, which they blamed on the Republicans. Hilmar von Campe, who grew up under the Nazis and wrote the book, Defeating the Totalitarian Lie, offers comparisons between Nazi Germany and America today. "Our nation has elected an anti-American left-wing radical if not Communist to be president of the United States," he warns. "We better begin to plan now for the reality and not for a democratic daydream. The ideological war has reached us at the top of our power structure threatening our very existence from inside." The economic crisis, in which people have experienced losses of as much as 50 percent in their retirement accounts, was the key to Obama's victory. In a December 4 column in Investor's Business Daily, J.T. Young noted that "Saddled with some of the worst circumstances to befall a presidential nominee, John McCain was, against all odds, doing well as late as September." He explained the timing of the crash and its impact on the November 4 elections: "According to Gallup's national tracking poll, McCain overtook Obama on Sept. 6 and on Sept. 8 led 49%-44%. He continued to hold the lead, and 'blue states' such as Michigan appeared in play. Democratic angst was palpable that they might once more 'snatch defeat from the jaws of presidential victory.' "Then on Sept. 14, America's financial system appeared ready to collapse. The New York Times called it 'one of the most extraordinary days in Wall Street's history,' and at 9:30 that evening the Federal Reserve announced efforts to prevent a crash. "The day before, Gallup's Sept. 13 tracking poll showed McCain still clinging to a 47% - 45% lead. "By Sept. 17, McCain had relinquished the lead, and no major national poll showed him leading again after Sept. 21-just a week after the financial sector debacle began." But Young, who served in the Treasury Department and the Office of Management and Budget from 2001 to 2004, did not highlight the role of Treasury Secretary Paulson in this unfolding debacle. As AIM has documented, Paulson is the one who sparked the panic by convincing Bush to go public on September 18 with demands to Congress for hundreds of billions of bailout dollars. China's role in the U.S. economy-and its threat to cut off lending to U.S. banks-seemed to be the catalyst for Paulson's actions. Obama must be thinking how incredible it is that he can pursue a socialist course as president by relying on Wall Street and Big Business figures, rather than having to appoint left-wing "progressives" from his far-left base who might engender opposition from the Republican Party and be potentially controversial or difficult to get confirmed. Indeed, Obama is forever in debt to the forces on Wall Street which collapsed the economy at the best time possible to benefit him politically. He is in debt more ways than one, by virtue of the fact that he took so much of their money to get elected. In terms of foreign policy, the same sleight-of-hand can be seen, and once again some conservatives are falling for it. "The losers in the Obama administration, as of now, are Joe Biden and Susan Rice, favorites of the left," wrote Fred Barnes on the website of The Weekly Standard. "Biden's role in foreign policy is likely to be minimal with Clinton at the State Department. She'll squash him if he sticks his head up. Rice, an assistant secretary of state in the Clinton administration and an Obama campaign adviser, may wind up as United Nations ambassador, a highly visible but inconsequential post. She'll have little influence." In fact, Rice did get that post. But Rice is one of Obama's closest advisers, and along with Anthony Lake ran his foreign policy operation during the campaign. She is a true window into Obama's real thinking on foreign policy issues because she has been so close to him for so long. Like Obama, she is a big booster of the U.N. and its causes. And he has made her position into one of cabinet rank. This was a big reward for her dedicated work on his behalf. The Barnes claim that Biden will suffer because of Hillary doesn't hold up and doesn't even make any sense. They share the same globalist philosophy. Both, for example, favor ratification of various U.N. treaties, including the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, which turns over critical oil, gas and mineral resources in the oceans to the U.N. Hillary has a long association with the World Federalists and Brookings Institution President Strobe Talbott, a world government advocate who served in her husband's administration, while Biden's pro-U.N. credentials are just as strong. This year, as chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, he held stacked hearings in favor of the Law of the Sea Treaty and passed it out of committee, with the support of the ranking Republican member, Senator Richard Lugar, and the Bush Administration. "As for Hillary," wrote Mona Charen, "well, she is no Jeane Kirkpatrick." But on the other hand, Charen maintained, "she is not Carl Levin or Dennis Kucinich or Anthony Lake or Samantha Power." In fact, Samantha Power, who left the Obama campaign for a while after bad-mouthing Hillary Clinton as a "monster," is back on the Obama transition team handling State Department issues. In any case, the views of Mrs. Clinton are virtually indistinguishable from those of Anthony Lake and Samantha Power in the area of expanding U.N. power in world affairs. On the surface, some picks do look good. Consider, for example, General James Jones, Obama's choice for national security adviser, who is a four-star Marine general. But a military figure of this stature in the administration will be absolutely necessary if Obama has any hope of pushing through the Law of the Sea Treaty, as he has vowed to do. Indeed, the Bush Administration ordered Navy Admirals to go to Capitol Hill to sell that same treaty earlier this year. The Republican Targets In terms of propaganda value, if Republican Senators are convinced by people like Barnes and Charen that Obama is really a moderate or centrist on foreign policy, they may be more inclined to vote to ratify the treaties he sends to the Senate. Keep in mind that the Democrats will need 67 votes to pass treaties. And that means some Republicans will have to be convinced to go along with the program. What better way to get those votes than to create the public perception that Obama is a moderate? Whether Lake or Power ultimately gets a high-level job is really beside the point. They have already been very influential behind-the-scenes. And there is no reason to believe they disagree with any of Obama's picks. In the end, as Obama has emphasized, he is responsible for the "vision" and he expects his team to carry that out. Obama will give the orders and even a four-star General will have to obey. |
