Hi Colleen, and welcome. I didn't catch this post sooner and my puter keeps freezing but will try and note what I can. Everyone is different and you can interpret the tones many different ways. Some feel it has something to do with the direction you are facing, but I don't find that to matter much. Most others feel one ear is local the other world as Diane noted. Some feel left is south and right is north or thereabouts. I used to feel the latter was true many years ago and may have helped to perpetuate that belief. I have since changed my thinking. For me it seems to fit better with the plates. Left ear is the Pacific Plate, Right the N. American, at least with local quakes. It gets more complicated further out. :lol Now as far as duration, I have a different way of thinking than most in that the longer the tone, the closer to me the quake will be, the shorter it is the further out. It works the opposite for most. Some feel the duration has to do with magnitude, etc. Again, everyone is different. What you have to do is keep a very detailed log. Note on it first and foremost which ear, then how long it last. Then as many details as you can, did the pitch change, what was the intensity, did it have a tinny sound, a high sound, a low sound. To each his own, you have to learn how to describe it for yourself and develop a way to track what you hear. Note any thing else you may get along with it, like an earache, or a plugged sensation in your ear, or a pain somewhere else in your body, etc. Then follow the maps and note what quakes occur. Eventually you can make a correlation to what type or length of tone fits what. But don't let anyone convince you that their method is the only right one. We are all individuals and must interpret them for ourselves. If you can find others in your area then try and follow their posts and see if they fit with what you find. I have found that a few of the sensitives near me have come to the same conclusions on many points. Speaking of which, where abouts are you located? It really makes a big difference if we know that. Hope this makes some sense, gotta run before my puter melts down again.
